Abstract

ABSTRACT
This research aims to develop an application that can monitor the activities of the elderly using
face expression recognition (FER). This system is capable of analyzing the facial expressions of the
elderly, providing more efficient monitoring. Additionally, the system is equipped with smart
notification features that deliver real-time information to the families of the elderly through their
mobile devices. Through advanced technology, this system can automatically monitor the activities
of the elderly. The development method used is the prototype method, which involves
communication, rapid planning, interface design, prototype construction, testing, and application
delivery. The research data consists of primary and secondary data obtained through interviews,
observations, and literature studies. The goal of this research is to enable families to monitor the
activities of the elderly more effectively and provide early warnings when necessary. Therefore, this
system is expected to improve the overall quality of life for the elderly. The conclusion of this
research is that the development of this system provides a significant solution for efficiently
monitoring the activities of the elderly and understanding the facial expressions of the elderly. The
system also provides smart notifications to families and reports the results of the analysis
effectively.
